  • While lovebirds Eugenio Derbez and Alessandra Rosaldo promised to love one another eternally, hundreds of students gathered outside the church to express how they felt -- about the results of Mexican presidential election, that is. The crowd of over 500 protesters made it impossible for guests close to the newlyweds to get into the ceremony.

The protesters were supporting the #YoSoy132 movement against the recently elected Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto and television network Televisa. The movement was heavily emphasized on Twitter, where it became a worldwide trending topic for several days.

Also taking on Twitter, a frustrated Consuelo Duval, an actress and Derbez close friend, expressed her frustration toward the situation. "No! I'm NOT at my best friend's wedding because the democracy of my country does not allow me to get close to the church. I am a bridesmaid of this fairytale wedding and I was NOT allowed to hug the newlyweds!" she tweeted.

So how did the newlyweds feel about their surprise guests?

"I am with them, I understand the cause, but it's unfortunate that it had to be on the day of my wedding," said Derbez, who also stated that his vote did not go to the PRI candidate.

Briefly after the ceremony, the actor showed his support for the movement by posting a picture on Twitter of him holding a sign that read # Yo Soy 132.
