  • Colombian singer Juanes is preparing to shelf his guitar and say goodbye to his singing career as he puts his journalistic skills to the test as new director of the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo.

But not to panic. This is only a one-day deal.

The singer of "La Camisa Negra" will run the daily that will publish on Sept. 23, two days after the International Day of Peace celebration. The paper announced the big news on their website.

"The idea is for the paper to have a positive, optimistic and hopeful feel for that day -- without ignoring the reality of what's going on in the country," Juanes told the newspaper.

El Tiempo revealed that they have been wanting to collaborate with the singer for several years. They were inspired by the British newspaper The Independent, which invited U2's Bono to guest edit the newspaper.

In this case, Juanes will meet with writers to brainstorm on different ways they can report on national reconciliation.

The singer-turned-journalist gave a preview of the special edition paper saying, "The philosophy will be visible in content as well as in the design, photographs and cartoons of this special product. And we will open the classified section to organizations that work toward peace."
